Kaoutar Chattahy
Kaoutar joined TILDA in July 2026 as a Biomedical Engineer, where she supports the technical and research activities of TILDA’s Health Assessment Centre, with a particular focus on biomedical equipment, health assessment methods and data quality.
Kaoutar completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, where her research focused on developing biofabrication strategies to engineer region-specific meniscal grafts. Her work combined progenitor cell-derived microtissues, biomaterials, 3D bioprinting and mechanical characterisation to engineer structurally and biologically organised tissues, progressing from fundamental biofabrication through to preclinical evaluation in a large-animal model.
Prior to her PhD, Kaoutar conducted research at i3S/University of Porto, Portugal, developing regenerative biomaterials for cartilage and intervertebral disc repair. She holds a Master’s degree in Bioengineering, recognised by the University of Beira Interior in Portugal, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Hassan First University in Morocco.
